Holiday parties, student of the month honors, and more news

  • The Latin Club is throwing a Saturnalia holiday shindig to celebrate the end of the semester. Festivities begin on Friday, December 14 at 11 a.m., and the party breaks up at 1:00 p.m. (which should give those of you with a tricky drive home plenty of time to beat the Friday traffic). Expect music, games, and a white elephant candle gift exchange — see the Latin club for details. And definitely bring a snack to share because it’s not a party without food.

  • Congratulations to Kiera, who takes home Student of the Month honors for November. Student of the Month recognizes people who have made a contribution to the school community, and Kiera is a worthy recipient of this recognition. Her cheerful presence in class, generous sharing of homemade treats, and especially her heroic efforts on the Academy yearbook this fall made her the clear choice for the Student of the Month. All our students are awesome, so this title recognizes a little extra awesomeness.

  • Winter break starts December 15, and the spring semester begins on January 22. We don’t assign homework over the break, and we encourage you to spend this time doing stuff you love. We’d love to see you back in January with lots of fun stories to tell and plenty of energy to start tackling the wonderful world of the Victorian empire.
