China’s long history—more than 5,000 years—and its rich contributions to literature, art, and philosophy—make it one of the world’s most fascinating countries. This course takes a multidisciplinary approach to Chinese history, delving into its five centuries of people, events, and ideas through literature and philosophy. Students will also study the basics of Classical Chinese language and writing to more deeply understand Chinese history and culture.
