In this class, we’ll be exploring some of the foundational elements of film, specifically cinematography, editing, and direction through a series of movies, including film noir, suspense, drama, and blockbusters. In modern culture, films may be one of the most powerful tools we have for storytelling and shaping values, which makes them powerful tools for developing skills in technological, cultural, and media literacy, critical thinking and problem solving, and textual analysis.

Students will attend lectures, screen films, and complete a series of assigned projects for class credit. (Enrolled students are welcome to drop in for the movie-watching any time!)
